There are moments in life when it feels like we are waiting endlessly.
Waiting for answers. Waiting for clarity. Waiting for the yeshuah we’ve been davening for.
And sometimes, during that wait, we begin to wonder— does Hashem even hear me?
מן העולם ועד העולם אתה קל — Loosely translated, this means: from the world until the world, Hashem is the Almighty.
More specifically, the name Kel refers to Hashem as the true source of power.
As the meforshim explain, from before the world was created until after the world will one day end, Hashem alone is the source of all power.
From beginning to end, no one but He can do anything.
In the words of Rav Gav: One of my children was waiting to get accepted into a school. Weeks passed, then months, with no answer or update.
I was sure they had forgotten about him completely.
And then, one day, the phone rang. “Hi, we’d like to talk about your son joining our school.”
I was shocked. I asked, “You know who I am?”
The person on the other end replied, “Of course. We’ve been dealing with your case this whole time, trying to figure out how to go about it.”
And in that moment, it hit him. So many times, we feel the same way with Hashem.
I’ve been davening for so long.
Does He even hear me?
Did He forget me?
But מן העולם ועד העולם אתה קל reminds us:
The most powerful One in the world is always thinking about you.
He has not forgotten. He is listening. And sometimes, it simply takes time.
Because Hashem is the only One with true power.
And even when the answer feels delayed, He is still there, and He is the only One who can bring the yeshuah we are waiting for.
